Obituary of Patricia A. "Pat 'Mullen

CANISTEO: Patricia A. "Pat 'Mullen of Ste. Rte. 248 passed away Saturday (August 13, 2016) at Rochester General Hospital following a brief illness. Pat was born December 6, 1946 in Hornell to Charles and Marian (Jackson) Thomas. On April 13, 1968 in Hornell she married Gary R. Mullen, Sr. who survives and resides in Canisteo. She was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Phyllis Jenkins. Pat was a certified nurses' aide who had worked at the Alcohol and Drug Rehab Unit at St. James Mercy Hospital. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who loved the company of her family. She was an avid "Yard Sale" enthusiast who loved to go from yard sale to yard sale making deals. She loved her gardening and collecting anything with "cardinals". She also enjoyed collecting antiques. Pat was a member of the former Hornell American Red Cross and had also Volunteered her time with Southern Tier Food Bank. In addition to her husband, Gary R. Mullen, Sr. Pat is survived by three sons: Gary R. (Rose) Mullen, Jr., Gregory (Billie) Mullen and Glendon Mullen all of Canisteo, one daughter: Gessica Mullen of Canisteo, 7 grandchildren: Zachary Galton, Brett Mullen, Madison, Mullen, Makayla Mullen, Gary R. Mullen, III, Grace Mullen and Elisha Mullen, one great granddaughter: Ireland Mullen. Pat is also survived by a brother; Charles Thomas (Marcia Lawton) of Fremont, five sisters: Edith Congdon of Campbell, Shirley Clarke of Fremont, Jean Weber of Arkport, Marilyn (Rodney) Kromer of South Dansville and Linda Wise of Arkport and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4-7 pm Friday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo, where evening prayers will take place immediately following calling hrs. at 7 pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in Pat's name may be made to the Canisteo Fire dept. c/o Max Wilson, 35 Main St. Canisteo, N.Y. 14823. Service: Friday, August 19, 2016 7:00 pm H.P.
