Obituary of Elisabeth A. Knight

CANISTEO: Elisabeth A. "Beth" Knight, 58, of Maple St. passed away unexpectedly Wednesday (August 24, 2016) at her home. Beth was born May 21, 1958 in Hornell the daughter and only child of Richard and Beverly (Florence) Shorts. On September 19, 1981 in Canisteo, she married James Knight who survives and resides in Canisteo. Beth was predeceased by her parents. Beth was a life long resident of Canisteo, but for a short period time attended and graduated from Oswego High School. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and home maker who loved to collect ceramic bears and teddy bears. Beth had also attended the Canisteo Wesleyan Church. In addition to her husband James Knight of Canisteo, Beth is survived by a daughter Melissa Knight of Canisteo, two sons: Matthew (Tiffany) Knight of Spanaway, WA. and Joshua (Jamie) Knight of Canisteo, as well as 8 grandchildren. Beth is also survived by two uncles: John (Sally) Florence of Canisteo and Ivan (Ruth) Shorts of Florida and several cousins. The family will receive friends from 1-3 pm Sunday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo, where funeral and committal services will take place immediately following calling hrs. at 3:00 pm. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Canisteo. Memorial contributions in Beth's name may be made to the Hornell Area Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Rd. Hornell, N.Y. 14843.
