Obituary of Florence A. Potter

Florence A. Potter, 95, of Savona, NY, entered into rest on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Absolut Care of Three Rivers in Painted Post. Born in Brookfield Township, PA on Dec. 24, 1920, Florence was the daughter of the late Elmer and Carrie Rice Guilds. On July 12, 1937, Florence married Wilson W. Potter. He preceded her in death on June 10, 2004. Florence retired from Ann Page Foods in Horseheads after many years of employment there. An avid card player, she loved Euchre and would spend countless hours playing cards at the Corning Senior Center. Florence was a member of the Corning Moose Lodge. Surviving are sons, Harold Potter of Elkland, John (Connie) Potter of Jacksonville, FL and Rocky (Laurie) Potter of Alchua, FL, daughters, Ethel Houghtaling of Dansville, Eleanor (Alfred) Tomb of Mills, PA and Belva (Daniel) Wilcox of Savona, 18 grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren. Also predeceasing Florence, besides her husband Wilson, were her infant son, Ronald James "Jamie" Potter and son Duane Potter, her daughter, Barbara Ann Brockway, her sisters Flora Britz, Florence's twin, and Anna Mills, along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016 from 2 to 4 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Burial will be made in Highland Cemetery, Elkland, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org. ��
