Obituary of Barbara P. Stewart

BATH: Barbara P. Stewart, 94, formerly of Ste. Rte. 415 Brooklea Farms, passed away peacefully Sunday morning (Sept. 18, 2016) at the Steuben Center in Bath. Barbara was born May 18, 1922 in South Otselic to the late Harry and Hazel (Kenyon) Palmer. On February 24, 1951 in Ithaca, N.Y. she married James b. Stewart who predeceased her in April of 2009. She was also predeceased by a sister Frances Springstead. Barbara had been a teacher and instructor for many years for the Cornell Cooperative Extension as a home economist. She was a member of the Kanona Methodist Church, the AAUW, the Steuben County Historical Society and had volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Barbara is survived by two sisters: Margaret Birnbaum of Kettering, Ohio and Edith Perry of Weedsport, N.Y. as well as several nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Barbara will be announced at a later date and time. Arrangements are with the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo. Memorial contributions in Barbara Stewart's name may be made to either the Kanona Methodist Church, 7631 Ste.
