Larry J. Mitchell, 69, of Hanshaw Road, Addison, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at home quite suddenly. Larry was born in Wayland, NY on May 2, 1947, the son of the late James Joseph and Stella (Jones) Mitchell. He attended Dansville schools where he was a 1966 graduate of Dansville High School. Larry enlisted in the US Army, serving active duty from 1967 to 1969. He was sent to fight in Vietnam where he was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received while there. Larry began a long career as a custodian at Addison Central School. He retired with 33 years of active employment. Very active in the community, Larry was a long time member and past Fire Chief of the Addison Fire Department. He was also a member of the Addison Eagles Aerie as well as the Williams-Greengrass American Legion Post in Addison. He had been a league bowler and was an all around avid hunter. Larry was married to the former Ardeth Martin who preceded him in death on Mar. 22, 2007. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Sheila Bevel, his sisters, Janice Mitchell and Norma Mitchell and his former wife, Ella Burdick Mitchell. Surviving are his children, Shelly (Darrell) Rice of Risingville, Tammy (Randy) Crooks of Greenwood, James (Julie) Mitchell of Addison, Claudette Tiffany of Tampa, FL, Darlene Wilson of Tampa, FL, Teresa Tiffany (Kevin Button) of Hollywood, FL and Billy (Diane) Tiffany of Cameron, his grandchildren, Mike, Christopher, Tiffany, Jessica, Ashley, Anthony, Matthew, Ty, Makayla, Justin, Shane, Devin, Dakota and Logan, his former wife, Betty Brown Mitchell and several great grandchildren. There will be a time of gathering and remembrance for Larry on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016 from 12 to 3 pm at the Addison Eagles Club, St. Rte. 417, Addison, NY. Memorials may be made in Larry's name to the American Diabetes Assoc. www.diabetes.org. ���
