CANISTEO: June L. Annabel, 94, of Cty. Rte. 29 passed away peacefully Sunday (Oct. 2, 2016) in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family and care givers following an extended illness. June was born December 21, 1921 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Felix and Armonde (Brisson) Spencer. On July 1, 1943 she married Albert Annabel who predeceased her in November of 1983. June was a graduate of Troupsburg Central School and the Eastside Beauty College in Detroit, Michigan. She had been a beautician at the former Princess Beauty Shop in Hornell and had been executive director of the Hornell Campfire Girls. She was a communicant of the former St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Canisteo and enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. Survivors include a daughter Kathryn (Daniel) Ajuna-Small of Westby, WI. one son Dr. Spencer (Carol) Annabel of Canisteo, four grandchildren: Matthew (Susan) Annabel of Carbondale, CO. Seth Annabel of Louisville, CO. Megan (Thomas) Angelo of Cheektowaga and Galway McCullough of NYC. One great granddaughter Maya Annabel. June is also survived by a sister Betty Mattison of Mars Hill, N.C. and a brother Douglas Spencer of Petersburg, VA. nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm Thursday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo where a funeral service will take place Friday at 11:00 am with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Canisteo. In lieu of flowers the family encourages memorial contributions in June Annabel's name be made to the Hornell Area Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Rd., Hornell, N.Y. 14843
