ALMOND: Doris M. Mullen, 81, of Main St. passed away Tuesday (Oct. 11, 2016) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester following a short illness. Doris was born September 8, 1935 in North Hornell to the late Howard and Bernice (Townsend) VanDuser. On March 10, 1957 in Alfred Station, she married Robert F. Mullen, Sr. who predeceased her in March of 2011. She was also predeceased by a brother, Richard S. "Bud" VanDuser, a half- brother: Paul Binder and half- sister: Alberta Binder. Doris was a homemaker and devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed the company of her family and friends. Survivors include a son Robert F. Mullen, Jr. of Hornell, four daughters: Patricia Burnside of Hornell, twin daughters: Jean Wilson of Lakeville and Jane Drone of North Hornell, and Karen (Lonnie) Herrick of Cohocton. 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and one on the way. Doris is also survived by two brothers: Donald (Bonnie) VanDuser of Florida, Kenneth VanDuser of Almond and a sister Nancy Griffin of Almond. The family will receive friends from 1-3 pm Sunday at the H. P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo where funeral and committal services will take place following calling hrs. at 3 pm. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Almond. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the donor's choice. Service: Sunday: Oct. 16, 2016 3:00 pm H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. 29 East Main St. Canisteo,N.Y.
