GREENWOOD: Joyce F. Holt, 76, of Church Hill Rd. went home to be with our Lord and Savior Thursday (Nov. 17, 2016) at the Highland Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Wellsville after an extended illness. Joyce was born December 14, 1939 in Hornell to Charles and Mary Jane (Watt) Fox. On September 6, 1958 in Greenwood she married Shirley E. Holt who survives and resides in Greenwood. Joyce was a graduate of Greenwood Central School and a member of the Greenwood First United Methodist Church. She worked as a baker at Alfred State College (A.C.E.S.) before closing the Mackenzie Bake Shop and retiring after 32 years. Joyce and Shirley were blessed to have traveled to all 50 states. Whether she was in a tent by a fire in the woods, a camper next to a dirt racing track, or a motor home in Alaska, she truly loved camping. Joyce had a wonderful mix of curiosity and creativity. She left us with 20 years of World Almanacs and troves of treasures still being discovered like her calligraphy, paintings, sketches, quilling, crocheting, knitting and quilting, but most of all her writing. With more than 700 poems, she loved writing for anyone who asked but especially for her brother. If you asked she would tell you her Children's Poems were her favorite. We will miss the songful, humble, beautiful heart of our dear wife, sister, mom, friend and neighbor but consider ourselves blessed for having known her. In addition to her husband Shirley Holt of Greenwood, Joyce is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Valerie and Paul Cox of Memphis, N.Y. a son Michael Holt of Wellsville, one brother Charles (Shirley) Fox of Almond, brothers and sisters-in-law: Stanley and Joanne Holt of Greenwood, Arnold and Peg Holt of Jasper, Sharon and David Allen and Charlene and Robert Davenport all of Greenwood and several nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents, step mothers Addie Rogers Fox and Doris Raish Fox, and sister and brother-in-law Joan and Robert Halsey. The family will receive friends from noon- 3 pm Saturday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo, where funeral and committal services will take place immediately following calling hrs. at 3:00 pm. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Greenwood, N.Y.
