Christopher G. Hughes, 51, of County Route 70A in Avoca, died suddenly on Monday, December 5, 2016 in Hornell, Born in the Town of Urbana, NY on March 5, 1965, Chris was the son of the late Ramona Mae Hughes. He was raised in Atlanta, NY where he attended Wayland Schools. They later moved to Avoca when he was a teenager and attended Avoca Central School. Chris worked most of his life as a landscaper, with the bulk of it as a self employed contractor. He loved the outdoors, so his occupation allowed for him to spend time outside with nature. He was an avid fisherman but mostly, he cherished time with his family who he loved dearly. Surviving are his daughter, Alyssa (Jeffrey) Cox and his son, David Hughes, all of Savona, his grandchildren, Jacob Cox and Delilah Hughes, his sister, Katryn Hughes (Mark) Segur of Avoca, his brother, Raymond Angelo (Lori Barron) of Gallatin, TN, his nephew, Timothy Conklin Jr., his niece, Nickole (Andrew) Glick and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Friends may call on Sunday, December 11 from noon to 2 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. A memorial service will follow at 2 PM with Mr. Eric Williams officiating. A graveside service and burial will be held in Vale of Rest Cemetery in Avoca in the near future.
