Obituary of Eva M. Kinney

CANISTEO: Eva M. Kinney, 95, formerly of Greenwood St. passed away Saturday (Dec. 24, 2016) at Hornell Gardens where she had resided since November of 2007. Prior to her move to Hornell Gardens Eva had resided for a time at the Updyke Willow Ridge Care Facility in Hornell. Eva was born May 25, 1921 in Kirkwood, N.Y. to Henry C. and Pearl (Wood) George. On December 9, 1939 in Kirkwood she married Nelson Bert Kinney who predeceased her in July of 2003. She was also predeceased by two brothers, John and Frank George and a sister, Ruth McCool. Eva had been a baker in food service at the former Canisteo Central School district. She was a 60 year plus member of the First Presbyterian Church in Canisteo. Survivors include three sons: Thomas (Yoko) Kinney of Hawaii, Edward (Patricia) Kinney of Dalton, GA. and Dr. Bruce (Barbara) Kinney of Bucyrus, Ohio, 6 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a sister, Jean Barrowcliff of S.C. There will be no calling hrs. or service at this time. A memorial service will be scheduled and announced at a future date and time. Arrangements are with the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo. The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care Eva received at both Updykes and Hornell Gardens and would like memorial contributions in Eva Kinney’s name be made to either the Updyke Willow Ridge Care Facility, 131 Hornell St. Hornell, N.Y. 14843 or to Hornell Gardens, 434 Monroe Ave. Hornell, N.Y. 14843.
