Obituary of Gertrude M. Payne Hackett

Gertrude M. Payne Hackett, 98, of the Jennie B. Richmond Nursing Facility, Springville, NY, formerly of Woodhull and later Arcade, NY, entered into rest on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Richmond Nursing Facility.
Gertrude was born in Troupsburg on March 4, 1918, the daughter of Frank and Lizzie Gleason Potter. She attended Troupsburg Central School.
On Oct 30, 1937 she married John R. Payne. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1979. She later married Glenn Hackett who also predeceased her.
Gertrude was a homemaker and partner to her husband John on the family farm on the Parallel in Troupsburg. She was a member of the Austinburg Methodist Church and along with John, was a member of the Troups Creek Grange.
She is survived by her son and daughter in law, John and Sue Payne of Arcade, NY, her daughter in law, Linda Welch, her grandchildren, Melissa Raimonde (John Dobosz), Christina (Brian) Sherwood, Gregory Payne (Raquel), Rebecca (Steve) Sager and Kimberly (Joe) Cellino, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson and many nieces and nephews.
Gertrude was predeceased by her husbands, as well as her son, Dennis Payne on Oct. 16, 2001, her granddaughter, Angela Schade, her great grandson, Tony Payne, her sisters, Evelyn Everitt and Bessie Margeson and her brothers, Robert Potter, Harold Potter and Walter Potter.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 27 from 1 to 2 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will follow there at 2 PM with Rev. Kathy Dawes officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Troupsburg, NY.
