Obituary of James William Price

James William Price, 75, of Painted Post, passed away at 4:30 AM on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Absolut Care at Three Rivers Nursing Home surrounded by family following a short battle with lung cancer. Beloved husband, father and grandfather, he was predeceased by his father, Everett Price and his mother, Rosamond (Potter) Price. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Donna Preston Price, his children, Robin Price of Greene, NY, Rick and Jane (Cassidy) Price of Eldersburg, MD, Michele Price Golden of Eldersburg and Kevin and Donna (Martin) Price of Marriottsville, MD, his cherished grandchildren, Chris Golden Jr., Falicia Golden, Brendon Golden, Garrett Price, Haley Price, Kevin J. Price, Hunter Price, Nolan Price, Kileen Marie-Price McLeary and Genevieve Rose-Price McLeary, his great grandson, Chris Golden III, his brothers Michael "Mick" and Nancy Price of Horseheads and Gerald "Jerry" and Mary Price of Painted Post along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Jim was born on Oct. 6, 1936 in Woodhull and graduated from Troupsburg Central School in 1954. He served in US Air Force and married Donna Preston on Nov. 27, 1957 in El Paso, TX. Jim worked for the Corning Packaging Co. and later Weyerhaeuser for over 30 years. He then retired after working for 8 years at Dresser-Rand in Painted Post. Jim loved to work with his hands, tending to his large garden and building and repairing things. His favorite pastime was watching his cherished grandchildren participate in their various sports, plays and concerts and other activities. Jim was a fan of all sports and loved watching and feeding the birds that visited the yard. He will be remembered for his devotion to his family and his strong work ethic. Friends may call on Friday, May 11 from 6 to 8 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Visitation will also be held on Saturday, May 12, from 10 AM to Noon with his memorial service following at Noon. Burial will be made in Woodhull Cemetery.
