Obituary of Michael David Doyle

Michael David Doyle, 64, of South Road, Addison (Town of Rathbone) went home to reunite with loved ones in Heaven on Monday, April 17, 2017 from his home with his loving wife and son by his side. Born in Syracuse, NY on March 2, 1953, Mike was the son of the late John Joseph and Dora (Clark) Doyle. Growing up in Onondaga County, Mike was a graduate of Baldwinsville Central School. Following high school, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps, serving his country from 1971 to 1973. He saw duty in Vietnam in 1972 where he was a helicopter RedEye gunner. Mike attained the rank of Lance Corporal and earned rifle sharpshooter and pistol marksman certification and was awarded the Vietnamese Service Medal with Meritorious Mast. Mike furthered his education after leaving the service and earned Bachelors Degrees in Psychology and Business Management at the University of Columbia. He worked for many years for the Miller Brewing Co. in Fulton, NY. On Dec. 22, 1990, he and the former Cindy Lou Walker were married in Baldwinsville. She survives. They moved to Rathbone and built a home on land of Cindy Lou’s family farm. Mike worked for Phillips Lighting in Bath after he made his home here. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed duck and goose hunting and ice fishing. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and was a former member of the American Legion. Mike was a certified SCUBA diver as well as a member of the NRA and Ducks Unlimited. Surviving is his wife of 26 years, Cindy Lou Doyle at home, his son, Michael Doyle of Addison, his daughter, Jennifer Walker (Brian Mack) of Ithaca, his sisters, Kathy (Paul) Benway and Betty (Jim) Porter, special nephew, Richard Doyle, sisters in law, Phyllis Palermo, Kathleen Walker, Sally Walker and Katrina Walker (Tom Laredo), his brothers in law, Douglas Walker (Gaye Sagardi) and Terry (Gloria) Walker, nieces and nephews, Chris (Jan) Taft, Shaun (Wendy) Taft, Michael (Christine) Palermo, Andrew (Samantha) Palermo, Meghan (Jason) Lewis, Kristine Walker, Dustin (Susan) Walker and Jason (Megan) Walker, many great nieces and nephews and one great great nephew. Mike had also been Dad to many boys who passed through his door over the years. Mike was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, John and Andy, his sister, Patty and nephew, Jamie Walker. Friends may call on Thursday, April 20 from 1-3 and 6-8 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will be held there on Friday at 11 AM with Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Burial will be in Hedgesville Cemetery, Town of Woodhull.
