Obituary of Marlene Gay VanZile
Marlene Gay VanZile, 80, of Ball’s Park, Addison, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Schuyler Hospital in Montour Falls.
Born in Corning on June 14, 1936, Marlene was the daughter of the late Chester and Hazel (Hyde) Osborn. On December 18, 1954 she and Eugene “Zip” VanZile were married at the North Baptist Church in Corning where Marlene was a member.
They eventually made their home in Addison and Marlene became a long time member of the Addison Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She and Zip were also very involved in youth and sports programs in the community.
Marlene was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be deeply missed by her beloved family.
Surviving her is her husband, Eugene “Zip” VanZile of Addison, her daughters, Robin (William) Kmetz of Johnstown, PA, Gail Knepley of Addison and Kelley Keesey (Steve Coates) of Woodhull, her son, Bryan (Sunday) VanZile of Lafayette, LA, her grandchildren, Billy Kmetz, Melissa (Aaron) Walizer, Josh Keesey, Mitch Keesey, Aaron Keesey, Bryan (Chris) VanZile, Brendon (Sarah) VanZile, Adam (Alicia) VanZile and Christy Shepard, great grandchildren, Patrick, Morgan, Alyssa, Alleighona, Kirrah, Braedon, Theo, McKenzie, Maddox, Cole and Brady, her brother, Willis (Barb) Osborn of Campbell and several nieces and nephews.
Marlene was preceded in death by her son, Ricky VanZile on Aug. 18, 1984, her son in law, Mike Knepley, her sister, Kathleen Leach, her brother, Chester “Bunky” Osborn Jr. and dear friend, Alan Taylor.
Friends may call on Monday, May 1 from 2-4 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will be held there at 4 PM.
Burial will be in Addison Rural Cemetery.
Memorials in Marlene’s name may be made to the Addison Fire Department.
