Obituary of Dawn Marie Mertsock

Dawn Marie Mertsock, 68, of North Hamilton St., Painted Post, NY, entered into rest on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the Corning Center for Rehabilitation in Corning.

Born in Troupsburg, NY on April 11, 1949, Dawn was the daughter of the late Harry O. and Margaret E. (Daniels) Gurnsey. She was a 1967 graduate of Troupsburg Central School.

Dawn had been employed by Corning Inc. but was foremost a loving mother, grandmother and sister who adored her family.

She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Paul and Kristi Mertsock of Painted Post, her grandchildren, Douglas Mertsock, Maggie Mertsock and Rebecca Stickler, her sisters, Shirley (Gerald) O’Dell of Tioga, PA and Judy Smith of Addison, her brother, Gary Gurnsey of Corning and several nieces and nephews.

Dawn was preceded in death by her sister, Pearl Drake and her brothers, Lee Gurnsey and Harry Charles “Chuck” Gurnsey.

A graveside service will be conducted at Woodhull Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
