Obituary of Samuel C. Waltman

Samuel C. Waltman, 79, of 237 Main St., Coopers Plains, NY, entered into rest Sunday, June 3, 2012 at Corning Hospital. Born in Elkland, PA, May 3, 1933, He was the son of Clyde & Edith Hoyt Waltman. A 1951 graduate of Woodhull High School, he served in the United States Air Force from 1952 being honorably discharged as an Airman 1st Class in 1955. He was a retired machine shop layout man from Ingersoll Rand Company, Painted Post. An athlete during high school, he played varsity baseball, basketball, & football. He enjoyed his cottage at Waneta Lake, fishing at Chippawa Bay, and taking long walks. He married Elaine A. Grant August 13, 1966; she preceded him in death March 10, 2007. He then married Shirley Boylston-Sanford March 22, 2011; she survives. Also surviving are three step-daughters, Debbie (Robert Bird) Sanford of Corning, NY, Linda (Andrew Davis) Houser of Corning, NY, and Rebecca (Kris) Smith of Lindley, NY; six step-grandchildren & one step-great grandson; special niece, Sheryl Kenner, and several other nieces, nephews, & cousins. Friends may call Wednesday, June 6, 2012, 6-8pm at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St., Woodhull, NY, where funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2pm. Pastor Tom Bell will officiate. Burial will be in Woodhull Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 13 Beecher St., Johnson City, NY 13790.
