Obituary of Lora E. Oles
Lora E. Oles, 87, of St. Rte. 417, Greenwood (Town of Jasper), entered into rest at home on Monday, October 9, 2017.
Born in Shinglehouse, PA on May 20, 1930, Lora was the daughter of the late Jack and Alice Irene (Kemp) Genaux.
On August 20, 1946 in Shongo, NY, she married Leon W. Oles. Leon preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 1985.
Together, Lora and Leon operated their family dairy farm together in Jasper for many years. She also had a long career with Corning Inc. where she had worked as a tube draw operator. She was a loving mother and homemaker to her large family and was a true animal lover. She always had various animals of all kinds around the farm and her home. A lover of the outdoors, Lora was an avid fisherman and hunter. She treasured time with her grandchildren and would often involve them in her outdoor activities.
Besides her husband Leon, Lora was predeceased by her son, Lee Oles, her infant daughter, Lina Marie Oles, her grandson, Robert Wright Jr., her son in law, Robert Wright, her second husband, Earl Wheatcraft, her brothers, Curtis Genaux and Murray Genaux and her half sister, Ruth Miller.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Mary and Dennis Smith of Jasper, Donna Wright of Hornell, Wilda and Bill Hager of Addison, Linda Knight of Jasper, Laverne and Robin Oles of Greenwood, Lyle Oles of Addison, Janet and Dennis Taft of Leicester, NY, Leon Oles Jr. of Jasper and Lyn Oles of Greenwood, 29 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, 14 great great grandchildren, her sisters, Alice Jarman of Deatsville, Alabama and Ida Mae Rossie of Livingston, California, her brothers, Jackson Genaux of Grass Valley, California and Larry Genaux of Eureka, California and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will be held there on Saturday, October 14 at 2 pm with Rev. Trevor Price officiating.
Burial will be in Jasper Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Care First Hospice.
