Obituary of Carol E. Bond
CANISTEO: Carol E. Bond, 77, formerly of Greenwood St. passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, January 3, 2018 at the Updyke Willow Ridge Home in Hornell, after an extended illness.
Carol was born April 6, 1940 in Philadelphia, Pa. to the late Carl and Marie (Ruch) Haffner. On October 17, 1959, in Philadelphia, she married Norman W. Bond who predeceased her in May of 2008.
Carol had been a resident of the Canisteo Valley since 1997. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hornell where she taught Woman's Bible study for many years. She was also a member of the church choir and was very involved with many church activities. She was a former member of the Allegheny Ave. Baptist Church in Philadelphia and the Abington Baptist Church where she was church secretary for 15 years, taught children's Sunday school and was also a member of the church choir. Carol was a very devoted mother and grandmother who cherished the time spent with her family. Her devotion and dedication to her church was very important to her throughout her life as well.
Carol is survived by three daughters: Kimberly (Dan) Gol of Quakertown, Pa. Naomi Dries of Milton, Pa. and Norma (Chris) Roberts of Canisteo, one son Mark (Christine) Bond of Gilbertsville, Pa. Carol is also survived by 12 wonderful grandchildren, Daniel Gol, Chris (Sarah) Dries, Jenn (Kevin) Monaghan, Becki Dries, Josh Dries, Brandon (Krystin) Pogue, Reilly Pogue, Kyle Roberts, Kameron Roberts, Brittany Bond, Melissa Bond and Ciejay Bond, three great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Avery Dries and Ryann Monaghan. One brother Robert C. (Marie) Haffner of Villas, N.J.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 pm Saturday, January 6, at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo, where a memorial service will take place immediately following calling hrs. at 3:00 pm. with the Rev. Cedric Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo.
