Obituary of Pearl I. Lechner
Pearl I. Lechner, 79, of Grove St. Addison, passed away at her home on Tuesday, January 30, 2018.
Pearl was born in Campbell, NY on September 13, 1938, the daughter of the late Ernest and Grace Demonstroy Culbertson. She attended Addison Central School.
On July 9, 1955, she and Gordon R. Lechner were married in Painted Post. Gordon preceded her in death on December 5, 2016.
As a young woman, Pearl had held jobs at the Corning Glass Works, Mac’s Cab and Keck’s Meat Plant. Her main role was that of mom, wife and homemaker, staying at home to raise her large family. She was a charter member of the Addison Eagles Aerie 3904 Auxiliary, a former member of the Addison Fire Department and Auxiliary and a social member of the Williams-Greengrass American Legion Post in Addison.
She is survived by her children, Gordon R. Lechner Jr. of Addison, Robert Lechner of Dundee, Jeffrey Lechner of Addison, Thomas Lechner (Sally Willingham) of Addison, Kathleen Morseman of Addison and Mona Doody (Glen Sullivan Jr.) of Risingville, 21 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, her brother, Harry Culbertson of Addison, her sisters, Vivian Shaut of Elkland, Elnora Hotaling of Addison and Charlotte Vaugn of Georgia as well as many nieces and nephews.
Pearl was predeceased by her daughter, Mary Strait in 2009, her daughters in law, Shirley Lechner and Pandora Lechner, her brothers, Hulbert, Ellwin, Charles, Ivan and Earl Culbertson and her sisters, Ruby Bloom and Thelma Smith.
There will be no services. Pearl and Gordon will be laid to rest together in Addison Rural Cemetery in the spring.
