Obituary of William E. Glover
CANISTEO/HORNELL: William E. “Bill” Glover, 85, of Laine Rd. passed away Friday evening, March 2, 2018 at the Steuben Center in Bath where he had resided since December of 2016.
Bill was born December 17, 1932 in Olean the son of the late Harley and Lillian (Chambers) Glover. In August of 1952 he married the former Marlene Waters who survives and resides in Bath.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force proudly serving our country during the Korean War. Bill was a salesman by profession and owned and operated Affordable Insurance in Harrisburg. He specialized in auto and home owner’s insurance for many years.
He was very active in Scouting and was a former Scout Master. He and Marlene were former members of the Canisteo Rotary club and were actively involved with the coat drive for the community. Bill also volunteered his time with area food banks. His other interests included working in his wood shop, gardening and traveling, with past visits to Germany, England and various destinations throughout the United States.
In addition to his wife Marlene, Bill is survived by a daughter Rebecca Donovan of Schenectady, two sons, Michael (Kathleen) Glover of Jackson, WY and Todd Glover of Enola, Pa. five grandchildren, Joshua and Trevor Donovan, Brian, Mary Christine and John Glover. He is also survived by a sister, Evelyn (James) Smith of Andover, and nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by an infant daughter Linda Glover and two brothers, Ronald and Encil Glover.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm Tuesday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Greenwood, N.Y.
