WHITESVILLE: Pauline M. Stanton, 90, of Hill St. passed away peacefully Monday (June 25, 2012) at her home. Pauline was born March 4, 1922 in the town of West Union to Fred and Edith (Smith) Lewis. On September 4, 1946 in Whitesville, she married Roger M. Stanton who survives and resides in Whitesville. She was predeceased by a grandson, Jeffrey Nye, a brother, John Lewis and sisters, Mary Teater, Marietta Benton and Elizabeth Wheaton. Pauline was a lifelong resident of Whitesville. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed her family. Her love for children led her to taking care of other children through the years at her home. She was a former Brownie Girl Scout leader, she loved to crochet, sew and spend time gardening, and also loved to read. She was a member of the Whitesville United Methodist Church. In addition to her husband of 65 years, Roger Stanton, she is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Dennis) Nye of Arkport, two sons: Michael (Cyndi) Stanton of Scio and Steven Stanton of Whitesville, grandchildren, David (Debi), Charlayna, Jorie Mae, Wyatt, Jennilyn, Neil and Daniel, Nicholas and Emily. She is also survived by two brothers, Fred Lewis of Bath and James (Cassandra) Lewis of Cortland as well as several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM Friday at the Whitesville United Methodist Church, Whitesville, NY where a funeral and committal services will take place immediately following calling hrs. at 3 PM. Burial will be in Arkport Heritage Hill Cemetery, Arkport, NY. Memorial contributions in Pauline Stanton's name may be made to either the Whitesville Fire Co. or Whitesville United Methodist Church.
