Obituary of Lillian J. Raish

ARKPORT: Lillian J. Raish, 88, formerly of West Ave in Arkport, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, March 26, 2018 at Elderwood at Hornell where she had resided since July of 2016.

 

Lillian was born March 18, 1930 in North Hornell to the late Paul and Gladys (VanDelinder) Grimes. She was predeceased by her husband Donald W. Raish in January of 2011. She was also predeceased by an infant son, Steven Raish, brother Paul Grimes and brother-in-law William Hurley.

 

Lillian was a devoted home maker, mother and grandmother who loved the company of her family very much. She was a member of the Canisteo American Legion auxiliary for more than 35 years.

 

Lillian is survived by three sons, Donald (Roxann) Raish of Canisteo, James (Janice) Raish and Phillip Raish all of Hornell, four daughters, Ellen (Gary) Fullmer of Hornell, Karol Crane and Diane Bro both of Richmond, VA and Jennifer (John) Smith of Hornell. She is also survived by two sisters, Carol Hurley of Homer and Ruth (Ivan) Short of FL., several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, nieces, nephews and friend and companion Leroy Cotton of Canisteo.

 

There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to a funeral service Thursday at 1:00 pm at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo.
