Bill is also survived by his eldest daughter, Sharon Harris and his grandson, Evan Pugliese. Sharon was born before Bill’s Army career. They reunited 25 years after he gave up rights to her. Unfortunately, time and space were too big to navigate and their reunion collapsed although he did meet Evan when Evan was 2 at Bill’s home in Hedgesville. Interestingly, the day Bill passed was his eldest daughter’s 54th birthday. Sharon had been able to meet her father’s parents, his brother and his wife, and develop a brief relationship with her youngest sister, Catharine, whom she loves very much.

Having known Bill for thirty-three years (with gaps), I can attest that he was probably the smartest, most interesting, discreet, humble, and at the same time genuine person I have ever met. And from what I know of Linna, he married someone with that same character. Who enlists in the army with two years of college, becomes a commissioned officer, is sent to law school by the army, and comes out a full Colonel at the end? No one I know of besides Bill!

Rest in peace, Uncle Billy! I remember fond memories of laughing together, learning how to program the old IBM AT computer, and hanging on every word of your stories...knowing there was so much more to them. I left my phone number with the funeral home and I'll leave it on another private condolence. Please call when you can.
