Obituary of Elizabeth Newhouse

Elizabeth Newhouse, 93, of Cook Hollow Road, Woodhull (Town of Troupsburg), entered into eternal rest on Tuesday evening, June 26, 2012 at Corning Hospital following a short illness. Elizabeth was born in Holbrook, NY on November 18, 1918, the daughter of Anthony William and Ella Grace Prunyi Gradischer. Following high school, she attended nursing school at Bellevue Hospital in New York. She was a homemaker and full time night nurse at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, NY working as a nurse in the maternity department up until the time she moved to this area. On September 13, 1941, she married Leonard C. Newhouse. Leonard preceded her in death on October 30, 1984. She and Leonard made their home together in Troupsburg in 1973 after falling in love with the area visiting here on family camping trips. Surviving Elizabeth are her sons, Denis (Ellaine) Newhouse of Detroit, Michigan and Ronald Newhouse of Maryville, Tennessee, her daughter, Cathy Foster of Troupsburg, her grandchildren, Janet, Eric, Misty, Ryan and Derrick, her great granddaughter, Emmy, her brother, Joseph (Jean) Gradischer of Stevens, PA and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceasd by her brothers, Paul Gradischer, George Gradischer, Richard Gradischer and William Gradischer and her sisters, Evelyn Gradischer, Agnes Gradischer and Helen Kitchen. A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the East Troupsburg Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Lenahan, Pastor of the Boyds Corners Bible Church, officiating.
