Obituary of William S. Delafield Jr.

        William Sloane Delafield, Jr. age 82, of Southbury, CT, died Tuesday, September 11, 2018 in Buffalo, NY.

       Mr. Delafield was born September 1, 1936 in Trenton, NJ toWilliam Delafield and Helen Dean. He enjoyed the outdoors, NY Yankees games, Irish songs, and studying current events, the Civil War and historical buildings. William was proud of his Marine Corps service, family heritage, and his service with Rotary International.  He spent his working life in the advertising industry.

        Mr. Delafield is survived by children, William Sloane Delafield III of New York, NY, Wayde Sloane Delafield of Harrisburg, PA, John Livingston Delafield of New York, NY, James Lee Delafield of New Milford, CT, David Sloane Delafield of Wayland, NY, Daniel Livingston Delafield of Beacon Falls, CT, Kathleen Livingston Elms of Battle Creek, MI, and Jeanne Livingston Matossian of Nunda, NY. He is also survived by brothers Robert Delafield of Brewster, NY and David Delafield of Bethel, CT, and two sisters, Joan Chapin of CA, and Polly Newcomb of Cocoa Beach, FL. He also has eleven grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

       Viewing will be held Friday, September 21, 2018 from 1-2 pm with funeral immediately following at the Woodhull Community Church in Woodhull, NY. Graveside services will follow at Woodhull Cemetery.

        In lieu of flowers, contributions in William's name may be made to Southbury Land Trust in Southbury, CT.
