Obituary of Sally A. Walker
Sally A. Walker, 70, of County Route 21, Addison (Town of Rathbone), went home to her Lord and Savior from her home on Friday evening, September 14, 2018 surrounded by the love and care of her family.
Sally was born in Corning, NY on September 19, 1947. She was the daughter of the late James A. and Dorothy P. Myres Walker. Raised on the family farm which was still her home, Sally graduated from Jasper Central School in 1965. Following high school she earned an associate’s degree from Dutchess Community College. She obtained a BA in Education at Messiah College in Pennsylvania.
Sally always loved children and babies. Her career choices reflected this. She worked for an orphanage in North Carolina, was Director of Corning Community College Day Care, Head Start Coordinator and lastly a family worker at Healthy Families Steuben.
Sally was a wrangler and counselor at Circle C Ranch Camp and at Kings of Kings Kids Camp in Pennsylvania.
She never met a cat she didn’t want. Her home was a haven for an endless amount of cats that gave and received her love. Sally loved traveling and visited numerous countries around the world.
Her love of family included being a second Mom to her nieces and nephews. She was fiercely devoted to her family. Her love of Christ and witnessing His love to others assures her a place at God’s table.
Sally is survived by her siblings and their partners, Phyllis Palermo of Addison, Kathleen Walker of Powder Springs, Ga., Douglas Walker and Gaye Sagardi of Cameron Mills, Terry and Gloria Walker of Addison, Cindy Lou Doyle of Addison and Katrina Walker and Tom Loredo of Ithaca as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and James Walker, her brother in law, Michael Doyle, her niece, Molly Jo Taft and her nephew, Jamie Walker.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday, September 18 from 1 to 3 pm at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Sally’s funeral service will follow there at 3 pm with Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating.
Burial will be made on the family plot in Hedgesville Cemetery, Town of Woodhull.
