Obituary of Mary Monica Bise
GREENWOOD: Mary Monica Bise, 83, formerly of Main St. Greenwood, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018 in Elyria, Ohio. After being in remission for 7 years, she found out in April that her cancer had returned and decided to forgo any further treatments.
Mary was born August 22, 1935 to the late Clarence (Bert) and Vivian (Carson) Halsey. On January 29, 1955 she married Harry F. Bise, Sr. who predeceased her on October 22, 2016.
Mary was a loving and devoted wife and mother to her 5 children. She enjoyed many hours playing cards with friends and family and sitting on the front porch visiting with passing neighbors. When she moved to Warrenton, VA we found out that she was an avid supporter of veteran causes. Dad felt she gave too much and when her son Lincoln visited, she would sneak him envelopes to mail for her.
In the 60's she worked part-time doing Friday Fish Fries and working during deer season at the Greenwood Hotel for Carl and Marian Balschmiter. Mary started work for ACES in October 1971, when her youngest child started school, retiring in October 1990. In 2012, Harry and Mary decided to move to Warrenton, VA. They enjoyed traveling, taking a cruise, an Alaskan railroad trip and a trip to Hawaii. In 2016 they moved to Elyria, Ohio where they resided with their eldest son Harry "Jun" and his wife Karen.
Mary is survived by her daughter Wanda of Belmont, three sons, Harry "Jun" (Karen) of Elyria, OH, Lincoln (Anna) of Warrenton, VA. and Michael (Mary) of Dansville.
