Obituary of Jon J. Jensen

Greenwood: Jon J. Jensen, 49, of Krusen Hill Rd. passed away Sunday, September 23, 2018 at his home as a result of injuries sustained from a home accident.

Jon was born August 29, 1969, in Hornell to John and Judith (Swan) Jensen.

Jon was a life-long resident of Greenwood where he graduated from Greenwood Central School class of 1987. He was employed at the Greenwood Town Highway Dept. as a laborer and heavy equipment operator and also helped in maintaining and servicing the equipment.

Jon was very much involved in his community helping others at any given time. He was a “Jack -of-all-trades and master of none”. When not a work, he enjoyed his time at home on the farm where he could be found in his garage fixing something for someone. He was very much involved with his children, helping his son Jacob acquire his Eagle Scout Badge and Jon also attended many of his son and daughter’s sporting events. He was a member of the West Jasper Wesleyan Church, he enjoyed cooking and baking and when he could he loved to fish with his family and friends.

Jon is survived by a daughter: Jennica Jensen (Shane Jackson) of Canisteo, a son Jacob Jensen of Greenwood, his parents John and Judy Jensen of Greenwood, three brothers, Jeremy Jensen of Greenwood, James Jensen of McMinnville, TN, Joel (Kerry) Jensen of Honeoye Falls, a sister, Julie (Lincoln) Young of Ithaca, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 and 6-8 pm Thursday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo. A funeral service will take place at Friday at 11:00 am at the West Jasper Wesleyan Church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Greenwood, N.Y.
