Obituary of Terry L. Hill

       Lindley, NY | Terry L. Hill, 65, of Church Creek Road, Lindley, NY, passed away suddenly on Sunday, October 14, 2018 in Campbell, NY.

       Terry was born in Corning on April 10, 1953, the son of Neal and Marguerite VanEtten Hill. He attended school in the Corning-Painted Post School District and was a 1971 graduate of Corning West High School. He also attended BOCES at the Coopers Career Center where he studied agriculture and heavy equipment operation along with participation in the FFA & 4H programs.  He also took classes at Corning Community College.

       On January 22, 1983, he and Brenda D. Koehn were married at the Lindley Community Church. Terry worked at various places through his life including J&J Auto Parts in South Corning for 13 years, Corning Inc. for 10 years, he partnered with Scott & Amy Drake in the operation of Woodhull Raceway for 8 years and he was currently a school bus driver for Leland F. Harris Bus Inc.

       Terry was an active member of over 50 years of the Lindley-Presho Volunteer Fire Department. He held several positions within the department and was currently Chief 26. A Lindley native, Terry was a very prominent citizen who gave countless hours helping his community in so many ways.  Terry enjoyed many hobbies; spending time outdoors and hiking on “the hill”, working gun shows with friends, going for long rides on his Harley Davidson Motorcycle and spending time with his family. Since his honeymoon, his favorite spot was Walt Disney World. Terry was especially proud of his daughter, Brittany - Daddy’s Little Girl!

       Terry is survived by his beloved wife of over 35 years, Brenda Hill, his dearest daughter, Brittany Hill (Jesse Wilson) of Lindley, his cherished mother, Marguerite Hill of Lindley, his close brother, Randy (Dee) Hill of Lindley, his sister, Bonnie (Gary) Morey of Tioga, PA, nieces and nephews, Dylan, Ryan, Jessica, Kelli, and Brian, dear sister in law, Heather (Steven) Kotula of Richford, NY and a large extended family. Terry was a beloved father figure, a kind brother to many and a caring friend to all.  Terry never locked the door to his heart and we have all been blessed by the love he had for us. 

       He was preceded in death by his father, Neal Hill on October 10, 2011.

       Friends and family may call on Sunday, October 21 from 2 to 5 pm at the Lindley Community Church on Morgan Creek Road in Lindley. Funeral services will follow there at 5 pm with Rev. Sheldon Roblyer officiating.  The local community and the Lindley churches will provide a celebration of life meal at the Lawrenceville Fire Hall directly after the funeral services. 

       The family would appreciate Memorial Donations be given in Terry’s name to the Lindley-Presho Volunteer Fire Department, 9541 Tannery Creek Road, Lindley, NY 14858.
