Obituary of Sandra Jean Foster
Sandra Jean Foster, 58, of Meads Creek Road, Painted Post, NY, passed away at home on Thursday, November 22, 2018 following a ten year battle with cancer.
Sandy was born in Hornell, NY on May 28, 1960, the daughter of Gerald and Sara Lee (Morton) Foster. Raised in Jasper, she was a 1978 graduate of Jasper Central School. She then attended SUNY Alfred where she earned a degree in office practice in 1980.
Sandy was employed as a customer service representative at the Corning Insurance Agency until 1985 when she accepted a position in Rochester as office manager at the Charles Tuke Agency. In 2006 she changed employment and served as a commercial lines agent at the Mead-Malloy Agency in Newark, NY. In 2015 Sandy was forced to retire due to poor health. Following retirement she moved to Painted Post to be near family.
While employed in the insurance industry, Sandy was very active in the Insurance Professionals of Rochester where she had served as President, Vice President, Treasurer and various committee seats. She also participated in many children’s charities including the Jerry Lewis Telethon, March of Dimes, Easter Seals and Special Olympics.
Surviving Sandy are her parents, Sara Lee and Jerry Foster of Painted Post, her siblings, Vickie Robinson of Lyndonville, NY, Kevin (Darlene) Foster of Painted Post, Judy (Mike) Ewell of Painted Post and Don (Jackie) Foster of Big Flats, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. She also leaves behind her beloved dog Ali.
The family wishes to express their thanks and love to Sandy’s caregivers who assisted her during her illness. Everyone was truly blessed by your dedicated service.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Homer and Eulalie Morton and Blanche and Archie Foster.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 24 from 1 to 3 pm at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will follow there at 3 pm with Rev. Stanley Kent officiating.
Burial will be in Jasper Cemetery.
