Obituary of Melody L. Heffner
Melody L. Heffner, 53, of Pattison Ave. Ext., Elkland, PA, passed away very suddenly on Thursday, December 6, 2018 in Williamsport, PA while undergoing medical testing.
Born in the Town of Urbana, NY on April 9, 1965, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence H Chapin and Helen M. (Tomb) Decker. Raised in Addison, she was 1984 graduate of Addison Central School.
On Oct. 24, 1992, she and Stephen D. Heffner were married in Addison. Melody was a homemaker and stay at home Mom. She was a member of the Elkland Moose as well as the Elkland Fire Dept. She adored her grandchildren and they became her core focus in her life. She enjoyed camping and drawing.
Surviving is her husband, Stephen Heffner of Elkland, her sons, David “DJ” Hatch Jr. (Hope Powell) of Campbell, Matthew Hatch (Justin Carbone) of Syracuse, Kyle Heffner (Adriana Walters) of Elkland and Garrett (Mary) Heffner of Nelson, grandchildren, Lilyan Hatch, Hayden Hatch and Isabelle Heffner, her sisters, Kelly (Henry) Maricle of Woodhull and Jaime Dyke of Addison, her step father, Melvin (Brenda) Decker of Campbell, Steve’s parents, Stephen and Mazie Heffner of Elkland and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Melody was preceded in death by her father Lawrence Chapin in 2001, her mother, Helen Decker in 2003 and her brother in law, Eric Dyke earlier this year.
Friends may call on Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 1-3 and 6-8 pm at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will be held there on Wednesday at 2 pm.
