Obituary of Douglas Dean Norton

ALMOND: Douglas Dean Norton, 58, of Old Whitney Road passed away Saturday evening, December 8, 2018 at Rochester General Hospital, after a long battle with alcoholism.

 

Doug was born March 9, 1960 in Hornell to the late Merlin E. and Mary Ann (McCormick) Norton. He was also predeceased by a brother Greg Norton.

 

After graduating from Alfred Almond Central School, Doug worked for National Fuel for 39 years. He will be remembered for his dedication to youth sports and other community involvement. Doug always enjoyed hosting get-togethers with family and friends and the "Pay-It-Forward" mentality.

 

Doug is survived by his three children: daughters Nicole Elizabeth Norton of Alfred and Andrea Jo Norton of Hornell, his son Jadon Norton of Almond. Five wonderful grandchildren, Arnold Saintphard, Alex and Calob Diaz, Evan and Jocelyn Rideout.

 

He is also survived by one brother James Norton of Hornell, three sisters, Carol Norton-Kull of Almond, Linda (Joel) Ordway of Canisteo and Debra (Erik) Jacoby of Farmington, two uncles William McCormick of Canisteo and George (Sue) Norton of Arcade, several nieces and nephews and Sally Jo Norton of Almond, lifelong friend and mother of his children.

 

There will be no prior calling hours. A celebration of Doug's life will take place Sunday, December 16 at 1:00 pm at the Almond Union of Churches, Main St, Almond, N.Y. with the Rev. Charles Emerson officiating.
