      Richard F. Harris, 65, of 1st St., North Hornell, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Unity Hospital of Rochester in Greece, NY.

       Rick was born in Hornell on September 21, 1953, the son of Frederick Knapp and Barbara Dean (Sick) Harris. Growing up in Hornell, he was a 1971 graduate of Hornell High School. He later attended Alfred State College and eventually finished his academic studies at Alfred University where he earned his BS in computer science.

       On January 17, 1973, he and the former Jeanette S. Brown were married in Camden, NY.

       Rick was employed by Alfred University for 24 years as a systems administrator in information technology. Following his retirement from Alfred, Rick joined his son Richard Harris Jr. in his building contracting business. Richard Jr. passed away in 2015.

       Rick is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jeanette Harris of North Hornell, his daughters and their husbands, Darcia and Chad Bowman of Dover Spring, MD and Anna and Kurtis Herlocher of Columbus, OH, his daughter in law, Liz Harris of Hornell, his grandchildren, Jack, Paige and Max Bowman, Elijah and Gabrielle Herlocher and Logan, Lily, Carter and Walker Harris, his siblings, Steve, Tim, Don and Linda and nieces and nephews.

       There will be no services held. Memorial donations are suggested to the Hornell Humane Society.

       Arrangements are being handled by the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home in Woodhull, NY.
