Obituary of Alberta C. Olin
Alberta C. Olin passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at the age of 100. For the past three years she was a resident of Brookdale Painted Post. Before that she lived in Woodhull for many years on the Olin family farm.
Born June 1, 1918 in Greenwood, NY to Walter and Ruth (Edwards) Dennis, Alberta married Robert Olin on March 7, 1942. She worked with her husband on their farm for 69 years which they both enjoyed. Alberta stayed on the farm after Bob passed away.
She was a graduate of Jasper Central School in 1936; member of the Woodhull United Methodist Church, Woodhull Grange #871, Woodhull Ambulance Corps. and Woodhull Rebekah Lodge. She always had a large garden and did a lot of canning. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and crossword puzzles.
Alberta was predeceased by her husband Robert on Apr. 10, 2011 and by her daughter C. Elaine Gleason on May 27, 1988.
She is survived by daughter and son in law, Peggy and Tom Hotaling of Liverpool, NY, grandchildren, Kelly (Vic) Loomis of Cortland, NY, Robin (Mike) Schultz of Buffalo, NY and Aaron Hotaling of Washington, DC, 3 great granddaughters, 1 great grandson, nieces, nephews and special friends.
The family wants to thank the staff at Brookdale who gave Alberta much love and care. They were very special to her. We also want to thank her friends who visited and the residents of Brookdale who helped make her days more enjoyable.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 19 at 11 am at the Woodhull United Methodist Church with Pastor Brian Diffenbacher officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Woodhull United Methodist Church or Care First Hospice.
