Murray J. Rude, 94, of 9180 Presho School Rd., Painted Post, NY, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Corning Hospital. Born in the town of Troupsburg, October 20, 1917, he was the son of James Frederick & Lena Mutch Rude. He was educated at Woodhull High School. He was a former dairy farmer in the town of Troupsburg and retired from Ingersoll Rand Company of Painted Post. He was a member of the East Lawrence Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon, Trustee and Sunday School teacher. He married Ila M. Thomas, May 23, 1937; she preceded him in death in 1998. He later married Dorothy Estella Balch, who preceded him in death in 2004. He is also preceded in death by his sons, Lawrence F. Rude and Robert M. Rude, his sisters, Lena Harkenrider, Florence Lowrey and Marie Rude, his brothers, Harold Rude and Elwood Rude and his son in law, David Schoonover. He is survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Arnold & Charlotte Rude of Chattanooga, TN; his daughters & sons-in-law, Donna & Donald Wingard of Brockway, PA & Elaine & James Apple of Flat Rock, Michigan; his daughter in law, Priscilla Deitrick of Corning, his brother, J. Frederick Rude of Lapeer, Michigan; his sisters, Ethel Wood of Painted Post and Jackie Schmidt of Venice, FL; sisters-in-law, Vivian Kolcun of Big Flats, NY & Marlene Thomas of Corning, NY; 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Friends may call on Saturday, August 4 from 1-3 and 6-8 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St., Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 5 at the East Lawrence Baptist Church, E. Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, with Pastor Victor Perry officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Troupsburg, NY. Memorials will be received for the East Lawrence Baptist Church.
