Tuesday, June 18, 2019Now that he is gone, I’ll miss him. I considered him a kindred spirit and planned to be in touch with him soon. I and fellow chess members will miss him.

Tuesday, June 18, 2019I met Mike at the Chess Center in Rochester where we played some highly competitive chess games, official USCF contests with a chess clock, over the years. And boy did we have FUN! Mike really loved to study and learn more about chess strategy and tactics in order to improve his mastery of the game. So often Mike would be accompanied by his friendly chess companions, Bill and Bob and others, as we all prepared to play our rated games on a Wednesday evening. Mike will be dearly missed. May he rest in peace.

Friday, June 14, 2019I was very sorry to hear of Mike's passing. I knew him from the chess club where he was a friendly and tough competitor, and always demonstrated excellent sportsmanship. He gave me a sound thrashing when we first met over the board, and then sincerely apologized for not playing better when I beat him! He will be sorely missed.

Friday, May 17, 2019Mr. Gorman was a wonderful teacher and example. I remember well his years and service to me and others in Canisteo, and I was very happy to see him again in later life when I went to speak to a men's group to which he belonged. He was a man who was true to his faith throughout his life, and a man who gave much of himself to others. I am grateful for his kind role in my younger life.
