Aunt Doris will always hold a special place in my heart as will all of the Bliss family. My sister, Chris, and I were fortunate to grow up living next door to the Bliss's... a path was well-worn between our houses. I would run next door before school to get braids in my hair... or invite myself for dinner if I didn't like what mom was having... we would help Aunt Doris run clothes through her wringer washer then hang them to dry... or our families would sit on their front porch at night and simply talk. Georgia, Wink, George, my sister, and I had the best times... summers lasted forever. We played games such as softball and yoller (no idea of what the purpose of that game was other than to run all over the neighborhood) ... our dads joined in the games such as kick the can... we converted a pheasant coop to a clubhouse and caught fireflies for light at night... we ran through the fields, walked on stilts that Uncle George made, picked blueberries, caught pollywogs in the summer and skated on the pond in the winter. And Scott, you are not forgotten... your family moved when you were small. I have only gotten to know you while visiting your mom on the Addison back road. I am very thankful that the Bliss family has touched my life. So sorry for your loss... she will be dearly missed.
