Obituary of Wilbur O. Hamblin

Wilbur O. Hamblin, 90, formerly of 183 County Route 86, Addison, NY entered into rest on Friday, August 17, 2012 at Elcor Health Services, Horseheads. Born in Brookfield Township, Pa. September 12, 1921, he was the son of Paul & Margaret Owen Hamblin. A former self employed dairy farmer, he was a retired tube draw operator and oiler at Corning Inc. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre. He married Helen Owlett November 4, 1943, she survives. Also surviving are 8 daughters, Phyllis (Robert) Towsley, Judy (Larry) Mundy and Janet Burgess, all of Addison, Wilma Benz of Branson, MO, Evelyn (Glenn) Brown of Columbus, GA, Virginia (Wyatt) Wolf of North Port, FL, Patti (Wesley) Baker of Addison and Dottie (Tim) Stepleton of Corning. Four sons, James (Kathie) Hamblin of Addison, Kenneth (Rose) Hamblin of Canisteo, Jerry (Joy) Hamblin of Andover and Roger (Debbie) Hamblin of Caledonia, NY. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. His sisters, Waneta Burke of Elmira, Anne Hunkerford and Donna Hugg of York, SC. He is preceded in death by his son, Leonard Hamblin, brothers, Bert, Owen, Clayton, William & Richard Hamblin, his sisters, Naomi Hamblin & Ruth Holland and son in law, Tracy Hargrave. Friends may call on Tuesday, August 21st from 1-3 and 6-8 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY where funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 AM. The Rev. Peter Marr will officiate. Burial will be in Woodhull Cemetery. Memorials will be received for Elcor Health Services, 48 Colonial Drive, Horseheads, NY 14845.
