Obituary of Joyce A. Plank

CANISTEO: Joyce A. Plank, 87, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday afternoon January 19, 2020 at her home after meeting challenges of an extended illness thru strong faith and courage. Joyce was born January 18, 1933 in Hornell to the late Theodore and Bernuth (Drake) Burchard. On October 20, 1951, in Hornell, she married James A. Plank who predeceased her in May of 2012. She was also predeceased by four sons, James T., Richard, Randall and Keith Plank and two brothers, James and Robert Sharp. Joyce is survived by five daughters, Charlene Thayer, Diana Plank, Brenda Sutton, Marcia (Curtis) Rice and Dawn Fowler, two daughters-in-law, Judy Plank and Fran (Joseph) Sharp, two brothers, Glenn (Pat) Sharp and Jack (Sandra) Burchard, sisters-in-law, Dolores Sharp, Joyce Sharp, Bonnie Saltzer and Mary (Charles) Stout and a brother-in-law Jack (Pat) Plank. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm Sunday, January 26th at the Buena Vista Wesleyan Church, Cty. Rte. 69 Canisteo where funeral and committal services will take place immediately following calling hours at 4:00 pm. Burial will be in the Plank Family Cemetery in the town of Howard. Memorial contributions in Joyce’s name may be made to the donor’s choice.
