Obituary of Marjorie A. Lamphier

GREENWOOD: God reached out and took Marjorie A. Lamphier, 91, by her hand on Saturday (Oct. 13, 2012) at her home on Ste. Rte. 248. She was surrounded by her family and friends. Marjorie was born July 4, 1921 in Hartsville to Clifford and Bertha (Hartman) Zeliff. On December 16, 1938 she married Robert Lamphier who predeceased her in November of 1998. She was also predeceased by a son Dale Lamphier in Dec. 2004, great, great grandson Isaac Warriner in April 2012 and a brother Robert Zeliff. Marjorie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend and was a lifelong resident of the Greenwood area. She was a home maker who also played a very big part in helping run the Lamphier Dairy Farm on Ste. Rte. 248 with her husband Bob. She was a member of the Greenwood United Methodist Church, and she enjoyed quilting, canning, reading, sewing, needle work, crocheting and embroidering. Survivors include a daughter: Barbara (Gary) Miller of York, a son: Dean (Patricia) Lamphier of Andover and daughter-in-law Geneveive Lamphier of Greenwood. She is also survived by 8 grand children: Shelly (Dean) Warriner, Lori (Ron) Bulson, Carla Wallace, Marcy (David) Bradley, Michelle (Jason) Feltham, Michael (Danielle) Duke, Joann (William) Lambert and Jolene Lamphier, as well as 12 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-9 PM Wednesday, at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo. Funeral and committal services will take place Thursday at 1:00 PM at the Greenwood United Methodist Church, Main St. Greenwood, with the Rev. Christopher Mattison officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Greenwood, N.Y.
