CRANE,TEXAS: Cloyse D. Hoad, 78, of Crane, TX, formerly of New York passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Corning Hospital after being stricken at his son’s home in Campbell. Cloyse was born October 5, 1942 in Bath, N.Y. to the late Cloyse C. and Phyllis M. (Campbell) Hoad. On October 27, 1988 in the town of Rathbone, he married the former Etta K. Parker, who survives and resides in Crane, TX. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving our country proudly from 1959-63. He worked and retired as a truck driver at Leo Dickson & Sons Environmental Services of Bath and had also worked for the Steuben County Highway Dept. before moving to Texas. Cloyse was a “Jack of All Trades” and had worked at many jobs throughout his life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, reloading ammunition and target shooting. He was an avid reader, loved to watch a good Western cowboy movie and when he could ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Cloyse was a life member of the Savona Rod & Gun Club where he held the office of Vice President, field chief and had also taught hunter safety courses. Surviving are his wife, Etta Hoad of Crane, TX. sons: Cloyse Hoad, Jr. of Hartsville, IN, Kim (Corrina) Hoad of Campbell, Robert (Mary Hernandez) Green of Crane, TX, daughter: Colette (Mark) Drake also of Crane, TX. Four brothers Royce Hoad of Cameron, James (Tammy) Hoad of Cameron, Greg (Sandy) Hoad of Bath and Jay (Lorraine) Hoad of Cameron, one sister, Gloria Moran of Bath. He is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Janice Hoad of Cameron, Deborah Hoad of Bath and Carol Hoad of FL. 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Cloyse was predeceased by four brothers, Barry, Allan, Rex and Darrell Hoad and two sisters, Susan Hadley and Zoann Adams. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Thursday, July 8th, at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo, where funeral and committal services will take place immediately following calling hours at 7:00 pm. Memorial contributions in Cloyse’s name may be made to either the Cameron Fire Dept. P.O. Box 1993 Cameron, N.Y. 14819 or to the Savona Rod & Gun Club, c/o Ray Noyes, 5069 Bonny Hill Rd., Bath, N.Y. 14810.
