Reed and I were stationed on our great ship USS VOGELGESANG DD862 the same time period. He was the top Engineering Chief Petty Officer, and knew the engineering plant very well. He was our TOP SNIPE, and well respected. He took great care of his people, and made sure they knew their stuff. Our last official tasking was to build a step platform for our decommissioning, and we built one that could have supported a car. He was a great carpenter, and a fantastic Chief Petty Officer as well as a great friend. It was great to see him at the ship's reunion, gosh, he didn't age.
My prayers go out to Jo-Ann, and the Sampson Family.. Fairwinds and following Seas shipmate I will see him again.
God Blessed us with your friendship, and now heaven has a great Engineer
Sincerely,
Andy Vasquez BT2(SW)
