Sometimes in life you impact strangers in ways you don’t even realize. Such was the case for Lois Cornell and my family. She was the “off chance” connection that brought my husband and me our greatest gift, our beautiful Korean daughter. My brother and Lois both taught at Greenwood where he had the opportunity know her son and daughter. He spoke to Lois about our desire to have a family and the adoption process. Through the hand of fate Lois learned of a baby whose first adoption plan had not come to pass. Lois was on it! She contacted my brother and put us in touch with the social worker. What an amazing day that was! We couldn’t have asked for more, but Lois remained a friend and guidepost throughout the whirlwind and complex adoption process. She educated, supported, nurtured, and inspired us. I turned to her time after time for “help” and she never failed to be there with kindness and friendship. When I think of those months, it is Lois who brings a smile to my face. She could have turned away as she didn’t know us or this baby, yet she reached out to help give a child a family and a couple their reason for being. The world will miss her, we are less without her, and ever so grateful to her. Our sympathies to Larry, Chelsea and Zach. Godspeed, Lois
