Dear Family of Fred Lewis,
I am sorry for your loss. I hope that your loving memories of all the good that you've had together will bring you peace when you need it most. I have childhood memories of my Uncle Fred that bring me joy still. He had a way of talking to us kids that made us feel special and cared for. Like he honestly enjoyed what we had to say. I am thankful for the short time I was lucky enough to have that spark in my life as a kid. Thank you Uncle Fred! From, Mindy Hawkins

We are so grateful to have had Fred in our lives. Fred brought to our family love, warmth, support and humor. We still talk about the stories Fred would share with us. Fred would be laughing so much throughout his storytelling that we would be laughing with him...many times not even followining the story or joke.
To Fred: Thank you for your love, being 'grandpa Fred" to Lindsey and Taylor; for your great roasted turkeys, for the blueberries you allowed us to pick and especially for your laughter. Thank you for your love of Sandy/Mom/Grandma and all that you gave her. She was happiest with you in her life.
Thank you Fred for just being you.
All our love,
Jay, Connie, Lindsey and Taylor Allison

Fred was chairman of Steuben County Bd. Of Supervisors and I was a newspaper reporter, which is how I began to know him. Professionally and politically, he was a skilled Legislator. I respected his observations and advice. We became friends through his county clerk years and I liked him immensely. Great sense of humor and all-aroune great guy. My condolences to Fred's family.

When I was elected to my first term on the Steuben County Board of Supervisors, Fred was a true friend to a novice public servant. He always had time to share experiences from his past. I am sorry that I am unable to get to Fred’s memorial service because I am volunteering at a chicken barbecue for my local Rotary Club. Fred will be missed, he was a true gentleman. My thoughts and prayers are with his family in this difficult time. Jim Bacalles
