I remember all the times playing Atari and Nintendo with grandpa! His famous “special eggs” and cups of coffee with dinner that we were never supposed to tell mom about. Carving on blocks of wood in the basement attempting to create something that resembled anything close to what he could carve with ease! All of the home projects that required our young able bodies to climb ladders and build scaffolding! He was a great man with tons of patience! His teachings at a young age are what led me to my successful career as a contractor. We always would talk shop every time we got together. He had to know what I was working on and how I was going about it!
Sitting by the edge of smith pond for hours with a worm at the bottom waiting for the bullhead to bite!
Grandpa, you will always be loved and missed dearly! The lessons and knowledge that you have instilled in so many people will live on forever!
I love you grandpa! Rest in peace!

Grandpa was an inspiration in my life. Despite having a leg brace and needing canes to walk from before I was born, he always had a smile on his face and was happy to help build anything. I remember he built a staircase by sitting on each successive step and just boosting himself up one at a time while he had me getting material and teaching me how to do it myself. He always had a great story to put a young impetuous boy to sleep. He taught me to be responsible for myself and my family, he showed me that you can always keep going no matter what the adversity, and most importantly he showed me unconditional love for family. Grandpa, we love you and will miss you. Leo, Lek and I are thinking of you from South Carolina, loving and living our best lives thanks to you.

Goodbye Daddy
Trapped in every shed tear,
Is a little girls worst fear.
90+ years in this life,
adopted daughter and loving wife.
He’s ready to say goodbye,
his body no longer spry.
All we can do is pray
that you’ll stay another day.
You just couldn’t do it anymore,
You had to open that other door.
You mane it thru the night
then you rise into the light.
It was very hard to say goodbye,
but life goes on so we had to try.
You’ve earned your wings to fly above.
We send you off with lots of love.
You’ll always be dearly loved,
And you’ll always be with us- just above.
Life sure is a bumpy ride,
but we’ll meet again on the other side.
I’ll always love you my father, my friend.

Art was foremost my friend. He loved making me laugh. Our visits and phone calls were long and always fun. Art was a storyteller. His stories were full of his antics. Laughing with him tickled my spirit. He was also a very talented artisan. As Art told me, if he could see it in his brain he could create it and he did. He will be remembered with great affection.
