Obituary of Alan M Freeman

Alan (Mart) M. Freeman, 74, of Thurston NY, passed away tragically on July 16, 2023 at the UPMC Wellsboro Hospital in Wellsboro PA. Born July 26, 1948 in Dansville NY, he was the son of the late George H. Freeman and Anna M. (Wilhelm) Freeman. After graduating from the Corning West High School, Mart married Frances Freeman, joined the Navy, and for a time, enjoyed flying planes for recreation. Later, he became a trucker and grew a love for driving and being on the road. One of Mart’s favorite things to do was stop at diners and try their apple pie. In his retirement he continued driving for the Amish. Uncle Mart will be sorely missed for his wry sense of humor and quick smile, and his good-natured teasing of his older sister Barb. Surviving are Mart’s sister Barbara Matthews of Thurston, NY, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, Mart was predeceased by his brothers: Clair Douglas Freeman, and Robert F. Freeman; Mart’s two aunts that helped raise him: Clara and Cora English; along with his Grandmother Addie Wilhelm. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are with the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home, Woodhull, NY.
