CANISTEO: Willard “Will” Stone Mlott and Sally Ann Mlott, of Canisteo New York, passed on July 28, 2023 and July 6, 2023, respectively. Willard was born January 19, 1941, to Luthera Beaman Willard and Henry Stone Mlott. He grew up in New York City, and married Sally Ann Cohen, whom he met while taking art courses at Hunter College. He went on to work for the Bronx Zoo and then Maritime College. He moved to western New York in 1973 and took a position working for the Physics Department Development Center at Alfred State College. Sally was born May 11, 1936, to Beatrice Nock and Milton Cohen. She grew up in New York City and married Willard after he joined her Modern Dance Company. She was very interested in sports and dance, and later graduated from Alfred State College with a degree in nursing. Sally and Willard wanted very much to move to “the country,” and bought a home in the town of Canisteo after leaving the Bronx in New York City. They practiced farming and gardening and fixing up their historic home, which burned down in 1994. They survived the fire and went on to rebuild and maintain their lives in Canisteo with their son, daughter-in-law, and twin granddaughters living nearby. Willard and Sally are survived by a son Willard and Carla (Reinhart) Mlott, daughter Heidi and David (Robinson), granddaughters Alexis and Nicole, and grandson Samuel Dayton Roof all of Canisteo. They are also survived by a sister-in-law Annie Cohen and Susan Luppo, and Mary Lu Stone, sisters, and several nieces and nephews. At their request there will be no calling hours or service, a private family memorial service will be held on their property at a later date. Arrangements are with the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo.
