"Love, now, forever and ever, the river never stops flowing with love. You're probably up there taking some pictures of all the deer with Mia by your side. I will miss all the memories and will hold onto all of them, can't believe how old I've gotten. I hope you watch over the family and get to see everyone grow up.
"You'll always be missed love you"

There are a few things that will always remind me of Bill and they are trail cams, Harleys, and Toyotas. Bill used to always send me his snapshots of whatever big game that showed up on his trail camera. I knew this poor critter (mostly deer) would probably soon be on his wall. I cannot see a Harley Davidson on the road and not picture him and Ernestine going on some ride somewhere, even though I know it was probably to Jelly Beans for a fish fry. Lastly, I always enjoyed hearing about the latest Toyota he had parked in his driveway. He was always so proud of his new purchase and how he got the best deal. Bill was a simple man with simple pleasures and that's what I liked about him the most. RIP Bill, shall you forever be roaming the woods in peace.

Bill will always be a special person to me. I barely knew him on any personal level, but was fortunate enough to spend some time with him on one particularly eventful evening in the tiny town of Troupsburg, that I'm certain he'd remember well. It was my blessing to have met him, and I am saddened by his passing. My deepest condolences to Ernestine and the family.

Poppa Bill and I used to talk on the phone often. I loved listening to him talk about all of the wildlife in his backyard (bears, deer, birds, you name it). He loved the outdoors and everything that came with it, that is something that I will always remember about him. Nature was his happy place.
I miss him very much. Love you, Poppa Bill.

Bill was one of a kind. Distance might have separated us a 1000 miles, but he was always in our thoughts and heart. We talk to Ernie almost every morning and that included talking to Bill. He always had some new bow or rifle he had seen that he couldn't wait to tell Derrick about knowing my answer would be no. Derrick would always say "well Bill my birthday is coming soon that would be a nice gift" and Bill would laugh and laugh. Bill loved stirring the pot! One of my favorite memories is a family wedding we all attended several years ago. I had lost my father when I was 18 and as I sat watching the father/daughter dance I think Bill saw the sadness in my eyes. Shortly after, Bill reached for my hand and asked me to dance. I will never forget that. He also loved his grandkids Maggie and Max. He was Papa Bill to them and they adored him. The first time they learned to fish was in his pond. I am so glad he was part of our lives and we will miss him.

I was a part of Ernie’s family for a short time and met Bill soon after he and Ernie came together. I knew him only briefly and it was years ago. He was kind and welcoming and treated me like family. Over the years I often thought of him and Ernie. When Ernie and I met again a few years ago, I was touched to learn that Bill still often thought of me. It speaks to the kind of man he was that someone who was so briefly in his life was still cared for after so long and with no contact. We need more people with hearts like his.

Today as I walked Sally, I saw some leaves from a maple tree lying on the sidewalk.
Instantly, my mind went back to last fall when Bill and I walked in the wooded area behind his house. He looked at the leaves on the ground, took his hands toward his face like a person savoring the aroma of something in front of them and replied "I just love the smell of leaves in the fall."
I will forever cherish this memory.

For most of the people who encountered Bill, they experienced an earnest man with an occasional witty comment (that always made you chuckle). Still, there was one little lady who was kryptonite to his austere personality - his granddaughter - Aiyana. He was delicate and protective with her. He said he never watched as many cartoon movies in his entire life as he did when he was with her. He played along with whatever her imagination conjured up. A memory I will cherish in my mind and heart is looking out his window and seeing him, hand-in-hand with the Diva, walking around his pond. Her tiny hand in one hand and her small bouquet of flowers in his other hand. The other memory that makes me smile was his keen fashion sense of cut-off blue jean shorts, brown work boots, and a cut-off Cabella's t-shirt. He laughed when I said you are the only person I know that dresses like that and then one day a man shows up at his house with the same attire as him. We laughed so hard. Thank you Bill for everything. For telling me you were proud of me, for loving my mom, and for being an amazing grandfather to Aiyana.
