ALFRED STATION: Matthew J. Matt, 34, of Ste. Rte. 21 passed away early Monday morning, January 1, 2024 as the result of injuries sustained in a one car motor vehicle accident in the town of Hornellsville.
He was employed at the H.P. Hood, LLC in Arkport as a sanitation machine operator.
Outside of work, Matt enjoyed weightlifting and kayaking, but his greatest pleasure was spending time with his children.
Matt is survived by three sons Urijah and Keegan and Carson Matt, one daughter Corlie Matt. He is also survived by two sisters, Patience Matt of Corning and Amanda Matt of Palestine, TX. He was predeceased by his father James R. Matt.
A celebration of Matt's life will take place on Sunday, January 14th from 12:00 - 4:00 pm at the Old Mill Inn in Alfred Station, NY.
Memorial contributions in Matt’s name may be made to the Finger Lakes SPCA, 72 Cameron Street, Bath, NY 14810.
Arrangements are with the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo.
