I am sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I got to visit Jim a few years back after not seeing him since high school. His smile hadn't changed in all those years. He showed me his little retreat in the woods that he loved. He was open about the love of his family and took me to meet his dad. I'm sorry for his loss but know he's surrounded by love still.

For 63 years I can't remember ever being more than 2 miles from where Jim was. He was a neighbor, teammate, schoolmate and mostly friend. He never asked for much, but always was willing to lend and hand. We'll miss the jokes, smile and friendship. RIP. Earl

Some of my earliest memories are of visiting Jim and Jack at Uncle Bob's house while my parents visited Charles Button up on the hill. They would allow me to walk down over the hill through the cow pastures to spend time with my cousins. I remember one time that Uncle Bob told the three of us that he would pay a bounty for mice that we caught in the barn. We caught a lot of mice that day.
My prayers and thoughts are with the Button family, especially my cousins, Bob, Ron, Nancy, Sue, and Jack. My love to all.

Hunter Hill Rd. has lost an icon. Jim “Earl” was someone that we always enjoyed sharing company with. He was taken too soon. He leaves an empty spot that never can be filled. Rest in peace my friend. My sincere condolences to his siblings, family, and all who had the pleasure of knowing and interacting with him. Words fall short.

I have many memories of Jim. In second grade when I was held back due to an injury, Jim and his folks stopped by our farm and Jim was supportive even as a young boy. We were both in the FFA and officers together. We judged cattle and competed in tractor driving contests. We were friends online and would drop each other a line and reminisce about farming, taking care of our parents and shared memories. I was saddened to hear of his passing. My love and prayers to the whole Button Family extended. Stan Kent

As Jim’s 2nd cousin (his dad and my Grandmother Alta Button Brabant were siblings) I can remember my grandma calling Bob at the farm asking if I could come up and ride their wild ponies when I was about 7-8 years old. Jim and Jack would gather up and saddle one of the ponies and lead it around so I wouldn’t get thrown off. He always smiled and never seemed to mind!

We are so very sorry for the loss of Jim. I wish I knew my relatives as well as my mother, Betty Gessner, did. May God be with you all.
